Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made history by hoisting the saffron 'dharma dhwaj' flag atop the newly completed Ram temple in Ayodhya, a momentous occasion that marks the culmination of a decades-long dispute. The ceremony, attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, was a testament to India's cultural consciousness and a significant step towards fulfilling a 500-year-old resolve. As the 8,000-strong crowd cheered, Modi rotated a lever to hoist the 11x22 feet flag, symbolizing the ideals of Lord Ram. The temple, built in the traditional Nagara style, spans 380 feet in length and 250 feet in width, with intricate carvings adorning its white marble walls. The flag, a banner of Indian civilization, represents the glory of Ram Rajya and embodies the country's rich heritage. In his 33-minute speech, Modi emphasized the importance of Lord Ram in achieving a Viksit Bharat (developed India) and called for expunging the mindset of slavery. He attacked Thomas Macaulay's education policy, which he said laid the foundation for mental slavery, and urged Indians to take pride in their heritage. Modi also spoke about the significance of the flag, which will invoke Satyamev Jayate and symbolize truth and dharma. Later in the day, the PM traveled to Kurukshetra, Haryana, to address a state-level event commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He released a special coin and a commemorative stamp marking the occasion, attended by Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The Ram temple's completion is a significant milestone in India's history, marking the end of a decades-long dispute and fulfilling one of the BJP's core electoral promises. The ceremony was a testament to the country's cultural consciousness and a significant step towards realizing a Viksit Bharat. As Modi said, 'Centuries of wounds are healing. Centuries of pain is finally being put to rest. Centuries of resolve is being fulfilled.'
