The long-awaited Ram Temple in Ayodhya has finally been completed with the hoisting of the saffron flag, marking a historic moment for India. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat hailed the occasion as a day of great significance, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the struggle for the temple's construction. Bhagwat, speaking at the flag-hoisting ceremony, remembered leaders like Ashok Singhal and Mahant Ramchandra Das Paramhans, who played key roles in the Ram Mandir movement. He also acknowledged the efforts of countless saints, householders, and students who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The RSS chief noted that the flag hoisting marked the culmination of decades of hard work, with the last 30 years being a particularly crucial period. He explained that the saffron flag represents dharma, or righteousness, and that the Kovidara tree symbol on it is rooted in the traditions of the Raghukul dynasty to which Lord Ram belonged. Bhagwat highlighted the symbolic significance of the Kachnar tree, which is medicinal and edible, representing a life of usefulness and virtue. He also drew inspiration from the sun, which represents brilliance and determination, and the chariot, which symbolises self-reliance and perseverance. In his speech, Bhagwat reflected on the resilience of the Hindu society over five centuries of struggle, noting that truth is eternal and represented by Omkar. He called for a collective effort to create an India that spreads dharma, knowledge, shelter, and positive outcomes globally, drawing inspiration from Lord Ram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel, and chief minister Yogi Adityanath were also present at the ceremony, where the saffron flag was hoisted atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
