A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly blackmailing a woman and threatening to circulate her morphed photos on social media, pushing her to take her own life. The victim, who had been in a relationship with the accused, had been receiving threatening messages and had even lodged a complaint with the police. According to the police, the accused, Sanjayraj Vishwakarma, had taken the victim to a friend's event and clicked several photos of her, which he later edited to create obscene images. He used these images to blackmail her for money, threatening to make them viral on social media. Despite the police warning the accused to stay away from the victim, he continued to harass her, allegedly pushing her deeper into depression. The victim, who was 28 years old, died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence on November 15. The victim's parents approached the police again after her death and a case was registered against the accused on charges of threatening to circulate obscene photos, blackmailing, extortion, and abetment of suicide.
