A 70-year-old man, Pradeep Kumar Saxena, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh nearly three decades after he fled parole and reinvented his life. Saxena was convicted of murdering his brother Sanjeev in 1987 and had been living under an assumed identity as Abdul Raheem in Moradabad district. He had changed his appearance, grown a long beard, and converted to Islam to evade detection. According to the police, Saxena had been working as a driver in Moradabad for years and had created a new life for himself. However, his past caught up with him after the Allahabad High Court directed his arrest in October. The Bareilly police formed a special team to track him down, following a trail of leads that included tips from his family and locals in Moradabad. After a brief search operation, Saxena was identified and arrested near Delapeer Mandi in Bareilly. He initially denied his true identity but eventually confessed to being Pradeep Kumar Saxena after being confronted with evidence. Saxena had jumped parole in 1989 and had been living under an assumed identity for over 36 years. The arrest is a significant development in the case, which had gone cold after Saxena's disappearance. The police are now set to produce him before the Bareilly court, bringing an end to a long and complex investigation.
