Nagaland has received a significant boost with ₹4.78 crore in funding from the North Eastern Council (NEC) in November. The allocated funds will be utilized for various initiatives such as youth and sports infrastructure development, tourism promotion, and support for indigenous cultural projects. This financial assistance is part of the NEC's efforts to support infrastructure development, livelihood enhancement, cultural events, seminars, research, and innovation-based initiatives across the eight northeastern states. In November, the council released a total of ₹56.22 crore to support these sectors. The NEC's support for Nagaland focuses on critical areas including infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, culture, education, skill development, livelihood promotion, and innovation. The council has reiterated its commitment to timely fund disbursement and close coordination with state authorities. In addition to state-specific allocations, the NEC released ₹14.89 crore to central agencies and cultural bodies to support regional events and academic engagements. Some notable project interventions during the month include community development for indigenous groups, animal feed production units, scientific pig-breeding facilities, and documentation of traditional medicinal knowledge. The NEC has also reported the completion of rainwater reservoirs for fire safety and a skill training centre in Nagaland, a project sanctioned in March 2023. The initiative aims to enhance fire-safety preparedness and provide structured training for youth seeking employment in fire and emergency services.
