The Indian Navy's tableau at the Republic Day parade on January 26 will beautifully blend the country's rich maritime legacy with its cutting-edge capabilities and highlight the growing role of women in the force. The display, based on the theme 'Anchored in Tradition — Sailing into Self-Reliance and Innovation,' will feature iconic vessels, including the INS Vikrant aircraft carrier and the INS Udaygiri stealth frigate. The Navy's participation is not just a display of military might, but also a reflection of its commitment to safeguarding India's maritime interests through self-reliance. The tableau will also showcase the achievements of the all-women expedition Navika Sagar Parikrama (NSP) II, which completed an eight-month circumnavigation last May. The display will also feature young girls from the Sea Cadets Corps, who have not participated in the parade in decades. The 77th Republic Day parade will feature a new phased battle array format, showcasing the military's capabilities, including infantry elements, tanks, artillery systems, and airpower. The naval marching contingent will consist of 144 personnel, with an average age of 25, who have undergone specialized training. Eighteen marching contingents and 13 bands will feature in the parade, including a naval band with six women Agniveers. The Republic Day celebrations will be organized around the theme of Vande Mataram, marking 150 years since the first two stanzas of the song were published. The parade will also feature a large-scale cultural dance performance involving around 2500 artistes.
