In a decisive victory, Nitish Kumar has been chosen as the leader of the NDA's legislative party in Bihar, paving the way for his record 10th term as Chief Minister on Thursday. The 75-year-old veteran leader will meet Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to formally stake his claim to form the next government, backed by a letter of support from all NDA constituents, including the BJP, JD(U), LJP(RV), HAM, and RLM. The NDA secured a strong mandate, winning 202 out of 243 assembly seats, with the BJP bagging 89, JD(U) 85, and LJP(RV) 19. Kumar's campaign focused on welfare measures, such as hikes in social security pensions, stipends for Jeevika, ASHA, and Anganwadi workers, and his flagship scheme, the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, which has benefited over one crore women with ₹10,000 each. Kumar will be sworn in at Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, marking the end of the current assembly's term, which was dissolved on Wednesday.
