Bihar is on the cusp of a new chapter as Nitish Kumar, the 74-year-old JD(U) leader, prepares to take oath as the state's chief minister for a record 10th time. The ceremony, scheduled for 11:30 am at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, will be attended by several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Kumar's return to power comes after a thumping victory in the recent assembly elections, where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a landslide win with 202 seats. The BJP emerged as the largest party in Bihar, winning 89 seats in the alliance's kitty. The oath-taking ceremony will be a grand affair, with heavy security arrangements in place, including a special monitoring team, over 2,500 security personnel, and snipers positioned on high-rise buildings around Gandhi Maidan. The event is expected to draw over three lakh people, with roads around the venue barricaded to manage the crowd. Kumar's deputy, Samrat Choudhary, is likely to retain his post, while other key positions, including the Speaker of the Bihar assembly, are still up for grabs. The NDA leaders are also finalizing the list of ministers, with the Cabinet expected to include 16 ministers from the BJP, 14 from JD(U), and several new faces. The Bihar Cabinet is likely to have a balanced representation of NDA constituents, with one ministerial post for every six MLAs. The oath-taking ceremony marks the beginning of a new era in Bihar, with Nitish Kumar set to lead the state for the 10th time.
