A chilling incident has come to light in Sector 150, Noida, where a truck driver narrowly escaped death two weeks before a 27-year-old man drowned in a similar water-filled ditch. Gurvinder Singh, the truck driver, shared his harrowing experience with NDTV, where he revealed that his truck hit the drain wall, causing him to fall into the ditch at 12:30 AM. Despite a delayed response from the police, it was local residents who eventually rescued him at 4 AM. Local residents, including a delivery agent who saved the life of the deceased Yuvraj Mehta, have come forward to highlight the authorities' inaction. According to PTI reports, the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department had flagged the need to drain excess water from the sector back in 2023, but the project was never implemented. The state authorities also directed the Noida authority to install regulators to channelise excess water into the Hindon river, but no action was taken. The recent death of Yuvraj Mehta has sparked outrage, with the Uttar Pradesh government removing the Noida Authority CEO and ordering a probe into the incident. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also called for an SIT probe into the matter. The incident has raised serious questions about the safety of roads in Noida and the need for urgent action to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
