President Droupadi Murmu hailed the Indian Army's success in Operation Sindoor as a defining moment in the country's counter-terrorism and deterrence strategy. Speaking at the Indian Army's Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025 in New Delhi, the President praised the armed forces for their professionalism and patriotism in safeguarding India's sovereignty. The President noted that the Indian Armed Forces have consistently demonstrated adaptability and resolve in the face of security challenges, from conventional warfare to counter-insurgency and humanitarian missions. The success of Operation Sindoor, she said, has not only showcased India's military capabilities but also its commitment to responsible action in pursuit of peace. Beyond their operational role, the Indian defence forces have played a crucial part in national development, strengthening frontiers and contributing to border area development through infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, and education. The President emphasized the importance of guided by India's civilizational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the country has demonstrated that strategic autonomy can coexist with global responsibility. In an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, President Murmu highlighted the need for India to be prepared to protect its borders and citizens with strength and conviction. She expressed confidence in the Indian Army's transformation through defence reforms, which will help make India self-reliant. The President also lauded the Army's efforts to invest in youth and human capital, instilling patriotism through education, NCC expansion, and sports. The President expressed hope that the Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025 will provide valuable insights to policymakers, shaping the future contours of national policy. She was confident that the Indian Armed Forces will continue to strive for excellence and work towards achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.
