Opposition to Confront Centre over Voter Rights in Parliament

The Opposition is gearing up to take on the Centre over voter rights and the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the upcoming winter session of Parliament. The session, scheduled from December 1 to 19, will see various parties raising their concerns, albeit individually. The Congress will focus on the Bihar election results and its 50 million-strong campaign against "vote theft." The Trinamool Congress (TMC) will discuss West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's concerns raised in her letter to the Election Commission's Chief Gyanesh Kumar. Meanwhile, the DMK will highlight the Tamil Nadu government's Supreme Court challenge to the SIR. The Congress has announced a rally in Delhi next month against "vote theft" and the Election Commission. "It will be a Congress rally, not an INDIA group rally," said Congress media department head Pawan Khera. "We have collected over 5 crore signatures against vote chori. The rally is in the context of the culmination of the signature campaign.
