Pakistan's recent remarks on India's Ram Temple flag-hoisting ceremony have sparked outrage from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla likened Pakistan's criticism to 'Osama bin Laden preaching world peace,' highlighting the country's own history of human rights abuses. The MEA also hit back at Pakistan, saying it has 'no moral standing to lecture others' due to its own record of 'bigotry, repression, and systemic mistreatment of minorities.' Pakistan had criticized the flag-hoisting ceremony, calling it an attempt to erase Muslim heritage and a reflection of pressure on religious minorities in India. However, the BJP pointed out that Pakistan has a history of persecuting various communities, including Hindus, Sikhs, and minority Muslim groups like Agha Khanis, Shias, Balochis, and Ahmadiyyas. The party also accused the Indian Opposition, particularly the Congress Party and Trinamool Congress, of echoing Pakistan's narrative on Islamophobia and Hindutva in India. The flag-hoisting ceremony marked the completion of the Ram Mandir's construction, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting a 10x20 feet saffron flag featuring a radiant Sun and an 'Om' symbol. The event was part of the Dhwajarohan Utsav on November 25.
