The mother of a 38-year-old woman who took her own life in her Delhi home has filed a police complaint alleging that her daughter endured years of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband and in-laws. The victim's father is the owner of the renowned Kamla Pasand paan masala company. The woman was found dead in her bedroom on Tuesday, and police have registered a case under sections 108 (abetment to suicide) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the complaint. According to the FIR, the abuse began just a few months after the woman's marriage in 2010. Her mother alleges that her husband and mother-in-law physically assaulted her, dragging her from the first floor to the ground floor while she was pregnant. The couple reconciled after the husband apologized, but the abuse continued over the years. The turning points in the relationship were the birth of their son and the discovery of the husband's alleged affair with a woman in Mumbai. The victim eventually returned to her parents in Kolkata, but was taken back to Delhi by her in-laws after they apologized. The abuse resumed two to three years later, with the mother alleging that her daughter found explicit messages on her husband's phone. This led to another confrontation, and the victim returned to Kolkata again before being asked to come back to Delhi. On the day of the incident, the mother received a call from her daughter saying they had argued over their son's phone. When she called again, her daughter didn't answer. A family member later informed her that the victim had taken her own life. Police are investigating the case, and the mother is seeking justice for her daughter.
