PM Modi Attends Christmas Service Amid Concerns Over Rising Hate Crimes Against Minorities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Christmas celebrations in the national capital, attending the morning service at The Cathedral Church of the Redemption. Meanwhile, the Opposition has raised alarms over alleged attacks on minorities during the holiday season. In his Christmas message, Modi emphasized the importance of love, peace, and compassion, urging the nation to promote harmony and goodwill. BJP President JP Nadda also participated in Christmas celebrations, highlighting the significance of Jesus Christ's teachings. However, the Opposition has taken issue with the government's handling of hate crimes against Christians. Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien criticized the PM's silence on recent incidents, including the assault of a visually impaired woman in Jabalpur over suspicions of conversion. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and CPI(M) MP John Brittas also expressed concerns over the rise in hate speech and attacks on Christians. Stalin pointed to a reported 74% increase in hate speech against minorities since the BJP government took office, warning of a "grave danger ahead.
