In an address to the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concern over young and first-time lawmakers being denied an opportunity to express their views in the House. Modi, addressing the first day of the session, emphasized the importance of giving young MPs a chance to showcase their capabilities and speak about their constituencies. While calling for an end to 'drama' in Parliament, Modi targeted the Opposition, accusing them of using the House for election campaigning and venting their frustrations over past defeats. He urged the Opposition to change their approach and work constructively with the government. The winter session, which began on December 1 and concludes on December 19, is expected to see the tabling of 14 bills, including the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and the issue of alarming pollution levels in Delhi. The Opposition has long been critical of the SIR exercise, and the ongoing pollution crisis in Delhi is set to be a major point of contention during the session.
