In a significant moment for India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed aarti at the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi Temple ahead of the flag hoisting ceremony. The event marked a major milestone for the temple, with PM Modi set to raise the 10-foot-tall, 22-foot-long saffron flag atop the 191-foot-high 'shikhar' of the temple. The flag, adorned with a shining Sun, an Om, and a Kovidara tree, will be placed on a 'shikhar' built in the traditional North Indian Nagara style. The temple's design blends elements from both North and South India, reflecting the country's rich cultural heritage. As part of the ceremony, PM Modi will address a gathering of around 6,000 to 7,000 guests from across Uttar Pradesh. The event has been described as the symbolic 'second pran pratishtha' of the temple. The Prime Minister began his visit to Ayodhya with a roadshow and prayers at the Saptmandir and Sheshavtar Mandir. He will also visit the Mata Annapurna Mandir and offer darshan and pooja at Ram Darbar Garbh Grah and Ram Lalla Garbha Grah. The flag hoisting ceremony will be carried out by 108 Acharyas from Ayodhya, Kashi, and South India, under the guidance of Kashi scholar Ganeshwar Shastri. The event marks the formal completion of the Ram Mandir, following the consecration of Ram Lalla in the garbhagriha in January 2024. Security in Ayodhya has been tightened, with 6970 personnel deployed in the city to ensure a smooth event. Devotees have been arriving at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple since Monday for the 'darshan' of Lord Ram ahead of the ceremony.
