The digital governance system, Pragati, has significantly accelerated the execution of critical infrastructure projects worth ₹85 lakh crore across India since its launch in 2015. According to Union Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan, the platform has resolved, on average, one issue per working day, helping to cut costs and time overruns on complex projects. The Pragati platform has directly escalated and resolved nearly 93% of 3,187 issues spanning 382 projects, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly addressing most of them. A notable example is the Jammu-Uddhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link, which was completed six years ahead of schedule on June 6, 2025, at a cost of ₹42,760 crore. The platform's five-tier escalation mechanism has addressed coordination issues between central ministries, states, and local governments, which are the main causes of time and cost overruns on large projects. Somanathan cited an analysis of 7,156 issues resolved through Pragati, which showed that nearly three-fourths of the problems were related to land acquisition, forest clearances, and right of use issues. As a result of Pragati's efforts, capital expenditure has increased 3.6 times, from ₹4.26 lakh crore in 2014-15 to ₹15.53 lakh crore in 2025-26. The platform has removed hurdles from over 3,300 projects, improving coordination across different tiers of government and addressing coordination issues within state governments.
