Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party during a visit to Lucknow, accusing them of undermining the legacy of national icon, Baba Sahab Ambedkar. Speaking at the inauguration of Rashtra Prerna Sthal, a national memorial complex built to honor former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Modi stated that the two parties have consistently promoted a 'one-family' rule in India, with their policies and projects often bearing their family's name. Modi criticized the Congress for diminishing Baba Sahab Ambedkar's legacy, stating that the party's leaders committed a 'sin' by ignoring the contributions of the Dalit icon. He also accused the Samajwadi Party of following suit in Uttar Pradesh. In contrast, Modi praised the BJP for upholding Ambedkar's legacy, citing the party's efforts to promote his ideals and values. The Prime Minister also highlighted the transformation of Rashtra Prerna Sthal, a 65-acre complex featuring bronze statues of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The complex, built at a cost of ₹230 crore, houses a state-of-the-art museum showcasing India's national journey and the contributions of the three leaders. Modi credited Syama Prasad Mookerjee with rejecting the system of two Constitutions and two flags in Jammu and Kashmir, a move that paved the way for the BJP's decision to repeal Article 370. He also praised the UP government's 'One District, One Product' initiative, which has helped elevate small industries and boost local economies. The Prime Minister also credited Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government with laying the foundation for India's digital revolution, including the launch of the Aadhaar card. Modi said that India has made significant progress in digital identity and telecom, with the country now having one of the highest numbers of mobile and internet users in the world.
