Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a monumental 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram in South Goa's Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt on Thursday. The event is part of a week-long celebration marking the 550th anniversary of the mutt's tradition. The PM is scheduled to arrive at 3:45 pm and will be greeted by a specially constructed helipad within the mutt premises. According to Shrinivas Dempo, central committee chairperson of the mutt, the 77-foot statue has been designed by renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, who also crafted the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. This will be the tallest Lord Ram statue in the world, making it a notable addition to India's cultural landscape. The unveiling ceremony will be followed by a visit to the temple within the mutt and a public address by the PM. Notably, Goa's Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and Union Minister Shripad Naik will be in attendance, along with state cabinet ministers. The mutt, which was established 370 years ago in Partagal village of Canacona, South Goa, has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment to give it a modern look. The premises will host various programmes from November 27 to December 7, attracting an estimated 7,000 to 10,000 visitors daily.
