Modi also touched on the need to free the country from the 'mentality of slavery', which he believes is a legacy of colonialism. He highlighted the importance of taking pride in India's civilisational identity and correcting the misconception that the country borrowed democracy from abroad. India, he said, is the 'mother of democracy' and it is in the country's DNA. The prime minister also praised Ayodhya, which he believes is emerging as a model blend of antiquity and modernity. He pointed to the city's new airport, upgraded railway station, and improved connectivity as evidence of its transformation. Modi also noted that nearly 45 crore devotees have visited the temple since its consecration, bringing significant economic benefits to the region. In his vision for a developed India, Modi emphasized the importance of patience, truth, good conduct, strength, and compassion. He invoked the metaphor of Ram's chariot in the battle against Ravan, saying that India's development journey too requires these qualities. The prime minister also reiterated the need for national interest to come before self-interest and remain supreme. Modi's vision for a developed India by 2047 is ambitious, but he believes it is possible. He highlighted India's economic progress, saying that the country has become the fifth largest economy in the world in the last 11 years. He also expressed confidence that India will become the third largest economy in the not-too-distant future.
