The long-awaited executive enclave for the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the national security council secretariat is on track to be completed within the next 15 days, according to an official source. This comes as part of the massive Central Vista redevelopment project, which aims to transform the seat of power in New Delhi. The new buildings, designed with state-of-the-art infrastructure, are expected to be fully operational by the end of the month. The Central Vista project, initially valued at ₹20,000 crore, has been a cornerstone of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to modernize the capital's architectural landscape. The project has already seen significant milestones, including the inauguration of the new Parliament building in September 2023 and the redeveloped Raj Path in September 2022. The Vice-President's enclave is also set to open its doors in April 2024. The latest development marks a major step forward in the project's timeline, which has been marred by delays in the past. The first new building, Common Central Secretariat (CCS1) building Kartavya Bhawan (KB) 3, was inaugurated in August this year, paving the way for the shifting of Union government ministries from the iconic North and South blocks. Home and finance ministries have already made the move to KB3 and KB1, respectively. The Central Vista redevelopment project aims to bring all ministries under one roof, improving coordination, security, and infrastructure for over 70,000 central government employees. While the PM's residence or the executive enclave-2 is expected to take substantially longer to finish, with a projected completion date of 2027, the latest developments offer a glimmer of hope for the ambitious project's successful completion.
