President Murmu Unveils Vibrant 'Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2025', Showcasing Western India's Rich Cultural Heritage

In a grand celebration of India's rich cultural diversity, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the second edition of 'Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2025' at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad on Friday. The nine-day event, themed around Western Indian states, brings together traditional dance, art, craft, and handloom forms on a single platform. The President expressed confidence that the event would promote a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage of Western India, enabling visitors to experience the vibrant handicrafts, music, dance, literature, and food of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. During her interaction with the artists, President Murmu praised their exceptional craftsmanship, saying it was an excellent example of the tradition of skill passed on over generations. She emphasized that the event would not only showcase the richness of India's art and traditions but also inspire the country's youth to appreciate its civilization and history. The President also highlighted the Government of India's efforts to make its cultural heritage and history more accessible to the public. She noted that the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, along with the President's Residences in Shimla, Hyderabad, and Dehradun, are now open for public visits. The event, which features over 250 artists, including Padma Shri awardees, will present an array of classical and folk dance performances. Dedicated state pavilions will showcase and sell traditional handicrafts, handlooms, and regional products, including Kutch Bandhani from Gujarat, Kota Doria sarees from Rajasthan, and Paithani sarees from Maharashtra. The vibrant cultural segment, 'Pashchimalap', will bring audiences folk dances and music traditions from across Western India, including Dhol-Tasha from Maharashtra, Kalbelia from Rajasthan, and Talvaar Raas Garba from Gujarat. The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy. The President's visit to Hyderabad was welcomed by Telangana Governor, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, and Union Minister Kishan Reddy, among others.
