The Maharashtra State Election Commission has postponed elections in six municipal councils across Pune district due to delayed court decisions. The original deadline for the elections was missed as courts took longer than expected to deliver rulings on key appeals. As a result, the voting date has been rescheduled for December 20, 2025. The affected councils include Baramati, Fursungi-Uruli Devachi, Talegaon Dabhade, Lonavala, Daund, and Saswad. The postponement affects not only the presidential elections but also the member seat polls. No fresh nominations will be accepted for the elections, and only existing nominations can be withdrawn by December 10, 2025. The district administration will widely circulate the revised election schedule to inform voters and candidates. District Collector Jitendra Dudi emphasized that the Commission's guidelines necessitated the postponements, citing the impact of delayed judicial decisions on the electoral process. The State Election Commission will publish the revised election program in newspapers to ensure transparency and fairness in the elections.
