Punjab and Haryana Shiver Under Cold Wave, Rainfall Expected in Coming Days

Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana experienced biting cold on Wednesday, with Faridkot being the coldest place in Punjab at a chilly 3 degrees Celsius. Amritsar recorded a low of 3.3 degrees Celsius, while Bathinda and Pathankot saw minimum temperatures of 3.8 and 4 degrees Celsius respectively. Other towns in the region also felt the brunt of the cold wave. Fog reduced visibility in parts of Punjab and Haryana, making morning commutes challenging. However, relief is on the way as a Western Disturbance is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall, along with hailstorms at isolated places, to parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from January 22 to 24. According to the Met department, light to moderate rainfall is predicted at many places on January 22, most places on January 23, and isolated places on January 24 in Punjab. Haryana and Chandigarh can expect light to moderate rainfall at a few places on January 22, many places on January 23, and isolated places on January 24. This spell of rain is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places. Hailstorms are also predicted at isolated places on January 22 in Punjab and on January 23 in Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in the northern parts of Punjab on January 23. The region can expect dense fog on January 24 and 25. In Haryana, Hisar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.3 degrees Celsius, while Ambala saw a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 5.3 degrees Celsius.
