A Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) operation targeted properties linked to former minister Mahendrajeet Malviya just days after he left the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and rejoined the opposition Congress. The raids on Wednesday at two petrol pumps and a crusher plant, located in Banswara, were conducted in response to allegations of irregularities. The ACB confirmed that its team gathered information and documents from the premises but did not lodge a formal case. Malviya has denied any wrongdoing, stating that his businesses operate within the law. He attributed the raids to the BJP's alleged attempt to intimidate him following his departure from the party. Malviya rejoined Congress after expressing feelings of suffocation within the BJP. The Congress spokesperson, Swarnim Chaturvedi, accused the BJP of misusing agencies to pressure the politician. Mahendrajeet Malviya, a four-time assembly member from Bagidora and former parliamentarian, previously served as a minister in the Congress government from 2021 to 2023. He resigned his assembly seat and switched to the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, but lost his contest. His recent return to Congress has sparked this latest controversy.
