Tensions ran high in Rajasthan's Chomu on Friday after a heated dispute between the police and local residents over the installation of an iron railing near a mosque. The situation took a violent turn when a crowd allegedly attacked police personnel with stones, leaving at least four officers injured. Authorities swiftly responded by deploying additional forces and conducting flag marches to maintain law and order. The Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Agarwal assured that the situation is under control, and strict action will be taken against those responsible for the violence. According to officials, the dispute began on Thursday evening when representatives of the Muslim community agreed to remove stones placed along the roadside near the mosque as part of a compromise. However, the removal of these stones sparked a new controversy when some community members began installing an iron railing, which was met with objections from others. As police attempted to remove the railing on Friday morning, the crowd turned violent, prompting police to use tear gas shells and mild force to disperse the crowd. An investigation has been launched to identify and arrest those involved in the violence, with police personnel from four stations stationed at the scene. Deputy Police Superintendent Usha Yadav confirmed that two to three police personnel suffered minor injuries, and senior officers are present at the spot to oversee the situation.
