Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has praised Operation Sindoor, a joint military and administrative effort to tackle terrorism along India's borders, as a remarkable example of civil-military fusion. Speaking at the 100th Common Foundation Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, Singh emphasized the importance of coordination between governance and national security in achieving India's vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The minister highlighted the crucial role of administrative officers in sharing vital information and ensuring the successful conduct of mock drills across the country during Operation Sindoor. He appreciated the strength of the administrative machinery in working seamlessly with the Armed Forces to build public confidence and counter the misbehaviour of neighbouring countries. Singh also emphasized the pivotal role of civil servants in accelerating India's journey towards self-reliance and development. He noted the country's significant economic growth, from being the 11th-largest economy in 2014 to its current position as the fourth-largest, and predicted that India may become the third-largest economy in the next two to three years. In his address, Singh urged young civil servants to work innovatively in a technology-driven era, using tools such as AI and automation to find solutions to people's problems and create a culture of transparency and inclusivity. He also emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding in public service, particularly in addressing the struggles of underprivileged citizens. The minister expressed confidence that by 2047, women will play a more prominent role in the Civil Services, including rising to the position of cabinet secretary. He praised the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration's comprehensive training ecosystem and the Foundation Course as a commitment to building an efficient and sensitive governance system.
