Ramvilas Vedanti, a key figure in India's Ram Janmabhoomi movement and former BJP MP, has died in a Rewa hospital in Madhya Pradesh. Vedanti, 78, had been under treatment for heart-related issues after his health began to deteriorate on December 10 while attending a Ramkatha event. He suffered a fatal heart attack on Sunday evening, and despite efforts to airlift him to AIIMS in Bhopal, fog prevented the air ambulance from landing. Vedanti's passing has been mourned by Ayodhya's mayor, Girish Pati Tripathi, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who described him as a 'key pillar' of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Vedanti's successor, Mahant Raghavesh Das, has confirmed that his mortal remains are being taken to Ayodhya for final rites. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, where Vedanti served as executive president, will likely face significant changes following his departure.
