In a significant development, police have detained a cleric, his 18-year-old son, and a madrasa teacher for questioning over suspected links to Red Fort suicide bomber Umar-un-Nabi. According to police sources, the trio was picked up based on inputs suggesting possible contact with Umar, who allegedly visited the mosque in Sohna, where the cleric, Hafiz Taiyyab Hussain, is based. The mosque's digital video recorder (DVR) was seized by the Faridabad Police crime branch, which is examining CCTV footage for clues. However, investigators have found that some recordings are missing, leaving it unclear whether the data was lost due to a technical glitch or deliberately deleted. Umar is believed to have hidden in a rented room near the mosque after escaping from Al-Falah University on October 30. He is thought to have entered Delhi via the Badarpur border on November 10 before triggering the deadly blast near the Red Fort. The detained trio includes Hafiz Taiyyab Hussain, 59, his son, and madrasa teacher Mohammad Rashid, 26. They are being held at an undisclosed location, and their families have not been given any updates. The mosque, which runs a madrasa for 34 students, has been a focus of the investigation, with police collecting Aadhaar details of all students and those detained. The National Investigation Agency may also examine the trio if required. The probe is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
