The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is conducting a thorough review of its performance in the recent Bihar Assembly elections, which it describes as a 'humiliating' defeat. The party aims to identify individuals who may have worked against it and its alliance partners during the campaign. The review process began on Wednesday at the RJD's state headquarters in Patna, where senior leaders met with winning MLAs and defeated candidates from the Magadh region. The feedback from these meetings will be used to create a list of suspected 'betrayers,' and disciplinary action, including expulsion, may follow once the review is completed. Several candidates have already named individuals who allegedly undermined the campaign, both openly and covertly. The review will continue until December 9, with meetings scheduled with candidates from various districts. Alongside the review, the RJD leadership is seeking suggestions on future organisational strategies and public issues to prioritize. Internal dissent and factionalism have been cited as major factors contributing to the party's defeat. Some RJD leaders have expressed concerns about the party's internal dynamics, citing a lack of control by party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and poor coordination among alliance partners. The RJD's review process aims to set the party on a path for future success in Bihar, but the challenges ahead are clear. The party must address its internal rifts and work to improve its chances in future elections.
