A local organisation, Dev Bhoomi Sangarsh Samiti, has urged the Shimla Municipal Corporation to dismantle the top three floors of the Sanjauli mosque, which were declared illegal by the Shimla Municipal Commissioner's court. The organisation has submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, Bhupinder Attri, calling for immediate demolition of the floors. However, the mosque's management and the Wakf Board have disputed the claims, citing a 1915 revenue record that shows the mosque has been in existence for over a century. The case has been ongoing, with the High Court ordering status quo on the lower two floors and demolition of the top three floors. The next hearing is scheduled for March 9.
