Karnataka's top Congress leaders, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, have put an end to speculation surrounding their internal differences. The two leaders held a joint press conference in Bengaluru on Saturday, assuring that they are working together as instructed by the party's national leadership. According to sources, the party high command had asked them to resolve any misunderstandings ahead of the upcoming Assembly session in Belagavi. Addressing the press conference, Siddaramaiah stated that they have agreed to follow the party's directions and work in unison. He emphasized that the arrangement between them would be communicated to the party's high command and that there will be no confusion from now on. The Chief Minister dismissed recent media speculation surrounding the visits of several legislators to Delhi, stating that it was merely related to cabinet reshuffle issues. He also addressed the controversy surrounding their breakfast meeting, saying that it was a planned event suggested by senior party leader K C Venugopal. Both leaders acknowledged discussing long-term political planning, particularly the 2028 Assembly election and upcoming local body polls. Siddaramaiah expressed that these elections would be crucial for the party's future and that they are working together to ensure the Congress returns to power in 2028. To counter speculation about rivalry, Siddaramaiah assured that the leadership is united and that there are no differences between them. He also criticized the opposition's statements about bringing a no-confidence motion, calling it a 'failed attempt' due to the party's significant majority in the Assembly. Sources close to the development revealed that despite the high command's request for the leaders to find a solution to the CM post standoff, no decision was made during the meeting. The leaders stuck to their demands, with no progress reported.
