Five migrant workers from Jharkhand, stranded in Cameroon for months without pay, are set to return home on Tuesday. The workers, who were hired by a Mumbai-based company for transmission line work, had not received their salaries for five months. Their plight was brought to light by social activist Sikander Ali, who shared a video of their struggle with the Labour department. After intervention by the Indian Embassy in Cameroon, the workers' outstanding salaries were cleared, and their flight tickets to Mumbai were booked. The workers will then return to their hometowns by rail at their own expense. The repatriation effort is a welcome relief for the families of Sunil Mahato, Sukar Mahato, Chandrashekhar Kumar, Dilon Mahato, and Dilchand Mahato, who have been struggling to make ends meet. The government's swift action in resolving the crisis is a testament to its commitment to protecting the welfare of migrant workers.
