Afghanistan's Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, arrived in New Delhi on a five-day official visit, marking the second high-level engagement between India and the Taliban regime since 2021. This visit comes just weeks after Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi's visit to New Delhi in October. Azizi is set to meet Indian officials and will visit the India International Trade Fair in Pragati Maidan, with a focus on boosting bilateral trade and investment between the two nations. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed the visiting minister, highlighting the importance of advancing trade ties. This is the second high-level visit from the Kabul government to India since the Taliban takeover in August 2021. Following Foreign Minister Muttaqi's visit in October, India restored its Technical Mission in Kabul to an Embassy, signaling its commitment to deepening bilateral engagement with Afghanistan in key areas of mutual interest. Azizi's visit is expected to further strengthen economic ties between India and Afghanistan, with potential benefits for both countries. The outcome of these talks will be closely watched, as India seeks to balance its engagement with the Taliban regime while promoting regional stability and economic growth.
