Chennai police have made significant progress in the ₹7.11 crore cash-van robbery case, arresting two more suspects identified as Dinesh and Jinesh. With their arrest, all eight members of the gang have been apprehended, bringing an end to a massive manhunt. The suspects were tracked down in Tamil Nadu through Chittoor and Veluru in Andhra Pradesh, following a tip-off. According to police officials, the duo was not found in possession of any cash, but their questioning revealed inconsistencies, prompting investigators to bring all the accused together to piece together the events surrounding the heist. Authorities had suspected the two men were in possession of the remaining ₹82 lakh of the stolen cash and conducted searches across Veluru and Chittoor. The probe has revealed that the gang spent a surprisingly small amount of the stolen money, only ₹1 lakh, which was used to purchase two mobile devices, fuel for vehicles, food, lodging, and minor payments to those who assisted them. State home minister G Parameshwara has assured strict action against any police personnel found involved in the heist, promising they will be dismissed and face legal consequences. Parameshwara has also instructed senior officials to intensify internal vigilance and ensure discipline within the force, following allegations implicating a serving constable. The authorities are also examining whether the cash-management firm, CMS Securities, complied with RBI regulations governing the transport of currency, and action will be taken if they did not follow the rules.
