Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar announced that the state government will conduct a social justice survey after the 2027 caste Census, with the aim of ensuring fair financial devolution from the Centre. The survey will be conducted in conjunction with the ongoing Census, and the state government will urge the Centre to complete the caste enumeration swiftly. The Governor also stated that the state will pass a resolution demanding its due share of financial devolution and will constitute a special legal committee to pursue the issue up to the Supreme Court.
