Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president N Ramchander Rao has expressed national security concerns over the involvement of a Hyderabad man in the recent mass shooting in Australia's Bondi Beach. The incident, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people, has been described as an 'insult' to India. Rao has urged the Telangana police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the mass shooting accused, Sajid Akram, who was carrying an Indian passport until his death. Akram, a 50-year-old Australian resident, had left India in 1998 but maintained ties to his hometown of Hyderabad. Rao has raised concerns about the presence of 'sleeper cells' in Hyderabad, suggesting a potential link to international terrorist organizations. He has also demanded a police inquiry into the family history of the accused, citing the involvement of Akram's son, Naveed, in the shooting. The incident has sparked a debate on national security, with Rao emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the matter. The Telangana police have confirmed that Akram's family has ties to Hyderabad, and his elder brother, Sahid Akram, is a doctor living in the city. Akram's recent visit to the Philippines in November has also raised concerns about his activities and potential connections to international terrorist organizations.
