Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has accepted the resignation of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr Nandakumar Reddy, who stepped down amidst allegations of irregularities in examinations and inspections. The move comes after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to take stringent action against those responsible. Reddy's resignation was accepted by the Governor on Saturday, following a series of serious allegations, including the revaluation of answer papers instead of the prescribed re-counting process, and irregularities in inspections of private medical colleges. An official probe confirmed discrepancies in the university's practices. Dr Reddy, who was appointed as Vice-Chancellor on March 18, 2022, served for just over eight months before resigning. He refuted the allegations, stating that he was ready to face any investigation. The Chief Minister emphasized that educational institutions must operate with transparency, neutrality, and adherence to standards, warning that the government would not tolerate any lapses that undermine public trust. The development marks a significant step towards addressing concerns over the university's governance and academic integrity. As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether further action will be taken against those implicated in the irregularities.
