Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced plans to introduce a bill against hate speech in the state. This move follows Karnataka's pioneering legislation in the same area, which was passed last week. The Telangana government aims to protect the rights of all religions and ensure equal opportunities for every community. According to Reddy, the proposed legislation will be presented in the state assembly's budget session. The Telangana CM emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights of minority groups, stating that development and welfare provided to Christians, Muslims, and other minorities is not a matter of mercy but a fundamental right. To address the issue of limited burial grounds, the state government plans to allocate lands for graveyards in areas slightly further away from villages or towns. The proposed bill in Telangana will have provisions for severe penalties, including a fine of up to ₹1 lakh and a jail term of up to seven years, in line with Karnataka's legislation.
