The External Affairs Ministry announced the arrival of Thailand's Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow in New Delhi for a four-day official visit. On Sunday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal welcomed the visit, calling it an opportunity to strengthen the strategic partnership and enduring civilisation ties between the two nations. Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow will hold official engagements in the capital on November 30, followed by a meeting with his counterpart, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, at Hyderabad House on December 1. The visit is part of a renewed effort to boost bilateral ties between India and Thailand. The visit comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to Bangkok in April, where he elevated the bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership and signed several memorandums across various sectors, including digital technologies and maritime heritage. Key agreements were signed in areas such as cooperation in micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Gujarat. India and Thailand have a long history of warm and cordial relations, with diplomatic ties established in 1947. The two nations celebrated the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2022, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral relationship.
