Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, stating that the party remains a single, indivisible political entity. This comes as a rebel faction of at least 19 MPs is set to meet the Speaker on Monday, demanding recognition as a separate faction.

In a letter to the Speaker, Banerjee argued that the Supreme Court's judgment in the Maharashtra political crisis case makes it clear that a split within a political party is impermissible. He cited the legal framework, which identifies only one political party, and stated that no member or set of members can carve out a parallel group or faction and claim independent recognition within the House.

The rebel group, led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, has sought separate recognition in the Lok Sabha and is preparing to meet Om Birla on Monday. The list of rebel MPs includes several prominent names, but Banerjee has made it clear that the party remains united and indivisible.

The development comes amid growing internal rift within the TMC, but Banerjee's letter has sent a strong message that the party will not be divided.
