In a major breakthrough, the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing has rescued 29 victims from a trafficking network in Myanmar. The operation, dubbed 'Blue Triangle,' was launched on November 18th and 19th, and revealed a complex web of agents operating across the state. The police have registered three FIRs and arrested one key agent who had disguised himself as a repatriate. The agent, along with his associate, had lured a victim with false promises of a tele-caller job in Bangkok, Thailand, and had extorted ₹5.40 lakhs from the victim's family for his release. The operation, led by Superintendent of Police, I Shahnaz, involved special teams for field investigation, forensic examination, and interrogation of returnees at Delhi and Chennai. The police had earlier arrested four individuals from Tamil Nadu on charges of trafficking one victim. Further investigation is underway to trace the key agent's associates, financial channels, and organized network trafficking Indian citizens to overseas cyber scam centers. The Tamil Nadu government had taken up the complaint with the Union government after a victim's wife filed a plea. The rescue operation is a significant outcome of the Cyber Crime Wing's continuous efforts to combat cyber trafficking networks in Southeast Asia. The police have also rescued 395 individuals from across India following raids by the Myanmar Junta Army at K K Park in Myawaddy, a compound notorious for cyber scams.
