A 30-year-old Haryana native, Vijay Kumar Sheoran, was stabbed to death in Worcester, UK, on November 25, following a verbal altercation. The victim, a student at the University of the West of England, was allegedly attacked by five individuals, who were also students from Haryana and Punjab. The suspects, aged between 22 and 35, were arrested by West Mercia Police and later released on bail. Sheoran's family, based in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, has reached out to the Indian government for urgent assistance in repatriating his body. Vijay's brother, Ravi, has written to the External Affairs Minister, seeking help from the Indian High Commission in London to expedite the process. According to Ravi, the family is struggling to navigate the complex legal formalities in the UK and requires the government's assistance to bring Vijay's body back to India for a proper funeral. A crowdfunding campaign has been initiated by Non-Resident Indians to help facilitate the repatriation of Sheoran's body. Lawyer Sukhvinder Nara, a former senior deputy advocate general in Punjab and Haryana high court, has appealed to Indian students traveling to the UK to remain vigilant, especially when interacting with fellow Indian students. As investigations continue, the police are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Sheoran's tragic death.
