In a bid to ease tensions and showcase unity, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar hosted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his residence for a breakfast meeting. The menu featured Siddaramaiah's 'favourite' dish, nati koli saaru (country chicken curry), along with other traditional Karnataka dishes. Siddaramaiah, a non-vegetarian, appreciated the effort, saying that his hosts had gone out of their way to prepare a non-vegetarian meal, unlike at his own residence. Shivakumar, a vegetarian, credited his wife's Mysuru roots for the authentic taste. The breakfast meet comes just days after the two leaders shared a meal amid a simmering power tussle in the Karnataka Congress. In a press conference, they expressed their willingness to travel to New Delhi if called by the party high command. Speculation about a leadership change in Karnataka has been circulating since Siddaramaiah completed two and a half years as chief minister last month. There have been reports of a 'rotational CM' arrangement, under which Shivakumar would take over after half of Siddaramaiah's term. However, the Congress has not confirmed any such arrangements. The two leaders reassured the public that all Karnataka MLAs are united and will face the Opposition together. They also announced a meeting of MPs on December 8 to discuss farmers' issues and other state matters. As they put it, they will accept the party high command's decision, especially Rahul, Sonia, Priyanka, and Mallikarjun Kharge.
