In a shocking revelation, a Haryana man who bid ₹1.17 crore for a prized vehicle number has come under the scanner for allegedly making false financial claims. According to Transport Minister Anil Vij, Sudhir, a resident of Hisar, had placed the highest bid for the number HR 88 B 8888, but failed to deposit the full amount by the deadline, allowing his security deposit to be forfeited. Vij stated that the Transport Department will investigate Sudhir's financial capacity and source of income to verify whether he was genuinely capable of bidding such a large sum. The minister expressed concern that some individuals are treating the auction process casually, making high bids without the financial backing to support them. The online auction for the coveted vehicle number was conducted in the Badhra sub-division of Charkhi Dadri, and 45 bidders participated in the process. The Transport Department has issued instructions to check Sudhir's actual income and property, and a written request has been sent to the Income Tax Department for a thorough investigation. The VIP registration number 'HR88B8888' will be up for bids again, and the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of financial transparency in the auction process. The state government is taking steps to ensure that only genuine bidders participate in future auctions, and that no one is able to exploit the system for personal gain.
