In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing feud between West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee, the latter has filed a counter-complaint against the Governor, alleging that his statements are inciting rebellion and separatist activities against the state government. Banerjee, a senior advocate, cited three instances of statements made by the Governor during press conferences in July 2024, October 2025, and November 2025, which he believes are threatening the country's sovereignty and unity. He filed the complaint under sections 61, 152, 192, 196, and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) with the Hare Street police station in Kolkata. This move comes a day after the Raj Bhavan filed a complaint against Banerjee for his remarks against the Governor, which included an allegation that Raj Bhavan was supplying arms and explosives to criminals to attack TMC workers. In response, the Raj Bhavan issued a statement on Sunday, calling on Banerjee to apologize if his claims were found to be false. The statement also hinted at the possibility of a security breach, given the Governor's Z+ category security and the Raj Bhavan staff. In a swift response to the allegations, the Governor on Monday ordered a joint search operation by state and central police forces, which evacuated the premises and involved the dog squad, bomb squad, and disaster management teams. The operation was conducted to ensure the Governor's and staff's safety. As the situation continues to unfold, the political tensions between the Governor and the TMC MP are set to intensify, raising concerns about the stability of the state government and the potential for further unrest.
