Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh - In a significant move to tackle the issue of illegal immigration, authorities in western Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly division have been directed to set up temporary detention facilities. The decision follows a directive from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to identify, detain, and deport foreign nationals living in the state without proper documentation. According to Divisional Commissioner Bhupendra S Chaudhary, several Bangladesh nationals are suspected to be working in various establishments in the region, including brick kilns and factories, by posing as residents of Assam or West Bengal. The officials will be aided in their verification process by linguistic experts from Tripura and local Bengali-speaking residents. Ground-level checks have already begun in Bareilly district, where officials and police are identifying individuals with fake Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other forged documents. Anyone found to be in possession of such documents will face criminal action. The authorities will also cross-check individuals identified during a special verification drive earlier this year. Recent operations in the district have already led to the arrest of several Bangladesh nationals, including three sisters who were arrested in August for allegedly residing with forged documents. A Bangladesh national living under a fake identity was also arrested. The move aims to ensure that foreign nationals living in the region without proper documentation are identified and deported to their native countries as per procedure.
