A devastating multi-vehicle crash on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura has claimed 13 lives, but officials fear the death toll could rise as DNA tests are conducted to identify severely burnt bodies. The accident occurred on Tuesday morning, leaving many bodies charred beyond recognition. According to officials, DNA tests are being relied upon to identify the victims, as many body parts have been reduced to fragments. A panel of doctors is conducting post-mortem examinations, and samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Agra for DNA profiling. Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gopal Garg stated that only after DNA testing can the actual number of victims be confirmed. 'Only after DNA testing of all the remains will it be possible to ascertain how many individuals they belong to,' he said. The investigation has also revealed that the driver of the Azamgarh-bound bus involved in the crash, Sunil Kumar, is missing. The second driver and the conductor were injured and have no recollection of the incident. The search for missing passengers continues, including Parvati from Hamirpur district, who remains untraceable. Her family is anxiously waiting for news of her fate. With several passengers still unaccounted for, officials warn that the death toll may increase once DNA test reports are received.
