A one-man commission investigating the death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has extended the deadline for recording statements and submitting evidence to December 12. The commission, led by Justice Soumitra Saikia, had initially set a deadline of November 21 but has now given individuals with knowledge of the incident until December 12 to submit their statements. According to the commission's member-secretary, Aroop Pathak, anyone with information about the incident can submit a notarized affidavit from 10:30 am to 4 pm on weekdays. In addition, individuals must provide a list of supporting documents, along with the originals or copies, and state the name and address of those who can provide the remaining documents. The commission, formed by the Assam government, aims to investigate the circumstances surrounding Garg's death in Singapore on September 19. The inquiry will also examine the sequence of events leading up to and following the incident, as well as any potential lapses or negligence on the part of individuals or institutions. The commission will also consider whether external factors, including foul play, conspiracy, or unlawful acts, contributed to the incident. Garg's death occurred while he was swimming in the sea in Singapore.
