In a move set to boost accessibility, Apple TV will no longer require an extra subscription for Major League Soccer (MLS) matches starting next year. The change comes after a successful three-year partnership between Apple and MLS, which saw over 200 matches simulcast on both MLS Season Pass and Apple TV, including the popular "Sunday Night Soccer" package. This shift follows Apple's decision to make its Friday night Major League Baseball doubleheaders available to all subscribers since 2022. The tech giant has also secured U.S. rights to Formula 1 for five years, which will be accessible from next season. The move is expected to increase accessibility, especially with the United States hosting the World Cup next year and MLS considering a calendar change to late summer to spring in 2027. MLS deputy commissioner Gary Stevenson revealed that Apple approached the league early this year about making all matches available on Apple TV. "We were impressed by the reception to 'Sunday Night Soccer' on Apple TV, and the potential schedule change made sense," Stevenson said. "We believe this evolution will provide fans with a better experience and value.
